Great! First, please read through the pricing and FAQs below. At the bottom of the page click APPLY TO PRESENT/. If you would prefer to fill out the application in person you may do so by dropping into our public gallery hours Wednesday to Sunday from 2pm to 6pm, or by scheduling an appointment.

Gallery FAQs

Q: HOW ARE EXHIBITIONS CHOSEN?
A: Applications are reviewed on a first come first serve basis. The desired month and availability of the gallery is taken into consideration when deciding whether an exhibition is accepted or not.

​Q: HOW LONG CAN MY EXHIBIT BE ON DISPLAY? CAN I HAVE A 1-DAY EXHIBIT?
​A: Our average exhibition is on display for 2 weeks but depending on the time of year, sometimes we can host for 3-4 weeks! Our minimum is 2 weeks; we do not accommodate 1 weeklong exhibitions anymore. And although our gallery name is the "pop-up", we do not host 1-day exhibits.

​Q: CAN I HOST EVENTS, LIKE RECEPTIONS AND WORKSHOPS, FOR MY EXHIBITION?
A: One event is complimentary alongside your exhibition. This event could be a performance, a reception, a workshop, any type of event you wish. If you are wanting to do more than one event per exhibition (i.e. an opening reception and a performance on separate days) you would have to pay to rent the JMAC for any addition event excluding the first complimentary event.

​Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO EXHIBIT AT THE JMAC?
A: The JMAC Pop-Up Gallery is free to exhibit in, so long as you conduct art sales through the JMAC, which are subjected to our 35% commission rate, and that your exhibition and any events alongside it, remain free and open to the public. If you do not wish to sell your artwork during your exhibition, you would have to pay a $250 per week gallery buyout (two-week long exhibition = $500 buyout, etc.)

Q: WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN TERMS OF INSTALLATION?

A: Great question! The JMAC is a DIY space. We provide our non-damage STAS hanging system for you to utilize but we do not allow any damage hanging (i.e. screwing, nails, etc.) without a $200 deposit made prior to installation.

Installation is entirely your responsibility! We do, however, provide help with installation and installation services if you decide to purchase our help. Our installation fee is $175 and that includes:
  • Hands on help from our coordinator with installation needs and layout. This is NOT a handler fee; our coordinator does not and cannot do your entire installation for you! If you are interested in that, we recommend looking into hiring external art handlers.
  • Artwork labels
  • Access to our vinyl services

Q: WHAT DAYS ARE THE GALLERY OPEN, AND WHAT DAY DO INSTALLATIONS AND DEINSTALLATIONS TAKE PLACE? 
A: Deinstallations are typically on Mondays
Installations are typicall on Tuesdays
Our public gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday between the hours of 2pm and 6pm.

Q: ARE THERE ANY LIMITATIONS OF THE GALLERY I SHOULD BE AWARE OF?
A: Every space has its limitations! We recommend booking a site visit if you've never been before, especially before applying. One limitation that we currently face and that we are very strict about, is that there is absolutely no hanging of artwork from the ceiling at this point in time. Hanging virtually weightless objects (like streamers) from our track lighting can be assessed on a case-to-case basis. This approval has to be explicitly given from our gallery coordinator.

Q: DOES THE JMAC DO ANY CURATED EXHIBITIONS OR OPEN CALLS?

A: Yes! We host open calls for various projects and opportunities. Please check out our open call tab for more information on current and upcoming opportunities!
