ONE-DAY SPONSORSHIP OVERVIEWAs part of its year-long initiative to support equitable use of the Jean McDonough Arts Center (JMAC), the WORCESTER CULTURAL COALITION/ will fully subsidize ten, one-day events programmed for the venue. These subsidies are made possible through partnership with the BARR FOUNDATION/.
The goal of each subsidy is to engage an artist, a group of creatives, or an arts-and-culture organization in creating a site-specific event that activates the JMAC and inspires Worcester audiences. As such, applicants must propose a one-day event that makes use of one or more of the JMAC’s spaces, including but not limited to the Worcester PopUp and BrickBox Theater. Preference will be given to applicants whose projects are led by or give voice to historically marginalized or underrepresented groups, such as the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. The selected applicants will receive mentorship and support from the JMAC staff; subsidy of venue rental and staffing costs; and up to $2,500 in additional discretionary funding to offset direct costs related to the event. Applications are open to all creative disciplines and to all Worcester-based individual artists, collectives, and nonprofit organizations working in the arts, culture, and humanities. We will not accept applications from religious or political organizations. Spring / Summer applications will be accepted through 5:00pm on February 10th, 2022, and selected applicants will be notified on or around February 25, 2022. Fall / Winter applications will be accepted through 5:00pm on July 15th, 2022, and selected applicants will be notified on or around August 1st, 2022. |
